Not sure what happened to Union Roleplay, but I stopped playing there.
A lot of their members weren't used to RP, and it seemed like the community had a long way to go. This was quite a while ago.
I wish them the best of luck if their heart is still beating.
Harlex is now running a HL2RP server running TacoScript: Classic, went on there once but it was empty.
Currently working on my own community. This community is my last attempt at a Garry's Mod community, when it goes down I won't create or join any new ones. Hopefully it'll have a good run, but you know, nothing lasts forever.
I find myself more and more bored by Garry's Mod nowadays.
That's about it. I'll keep ya'll peeps updated on what's going on (if anyone is reading this, of course).

Long time no see?
Well, this blog apparently appeared in this facepunch thread:

So it seemed like an excellent opportunity to update it.
So... Hello, deserted blog.

Union Roleplay - Tiramisu is pretteh kewl, guiz
So, the other day I encountered Union Roleplay, a post-apocalyptic roleplay server which has factions similar to some of the ones I've made in the past, but whatever, this is most likely just a coincidence.
In either way, they are actually running Tiramisu instead of OpenAura. If you didn't know, Tiramisu is a heavy CakeScript edit made by F-Nox that's basically just a fancier CakeScript. Hence its name, Tiramisu (Tiramisu is a fancy italian cake).
The server seems to have some potential, but I did notice something about their content pack... It wasn't really a content pack.
It included all of their models... As well as their gamemode and addons. I mean, what? Sorry, but you don't usually include your gamemode in your content pack, and often not your addons. Just your models/materials/maps etc.
Oh, and they also use freeforums.org.
Oh well, the server itself seems good enough. I'll keep ya'll updated.

|HERP.|
So, I heard that there's a new kid in town.

Any similarities to |DERP.| are entirely coincidental =3
Sidenote: This is just for fun, and not meant to discriminate anyone. People need to learn to take jokes, that's all.

Has Shh returned? Or... What?
I honestly have no idea.
A few days ago, I noticed that the domain "shhroleplay.co.uk" would transfer you to "harlex.net", and it would display exactly the same "Bye" message as before. I then noticed that a sub-domain existed, with a forum on itself. I didn't think too much about it, as the forum was empty and had a few "test" threads by Skarphet here and there.
But, while randomly visiting shhroleplay.co.uk again, I noticed that it now displayed a new message...

So, Harlex Network. A new community, or another revival of Shh (with a new name)? Well, it was advertised on shhroleplay.co.uk, so I'd assume that it's another revival, but who the fuck knows?
From HL2RP to PERP... Right

Shh Roleplay - It died. Again.
This is what you'll see if you visit ShhRoleplay.co.uk
Just a few days ago I wrote about Shh Roleplay never staying dead, and I was completely right. It has been shut down, AGAIN!
Apparently, it was shut down this time due to hosting issues and the fact that "it's not going anywhere". Will it stay dead this time? I highly doubt it, considering that it has been revived a billion times before.
I've got to give them some credit, though, they didn't use OpenAura. They used a TacoScript 2 edit which they called ShhScript 2.
It was revived by Adrian and a few other people, people got interested in it, it put up its server and the server started becoming a lot less populated than before. Eventually barely anyone went on the server, and now it has been officially shut down. Again.
It just goes to show that some things should just stay dead.

OpenAura - The new DarkRP
In my first post on this blog I clearly stated that nowadays you just see RP servers running either DarkDM... I mean, DarkRP... or OpenAura. What exactly is OpenAura, you ask?
OpenAura is a Garry's Mod roleplay framework, created by kurozael/kuropixel/kuromiku/Conna Cook/Conna Wiles. Often just referred to as kuro, since he changes his name like he changes his underwear.
Now, before kuro made OpenAura, he made a shit ton of other frameworks, which all looked exactly the same.
After seeing Rick Dark's roleplay gamemode TacoScript (which a lot of people should be familiar with), kuro decided to make a total ripoff of TacoScript and name it kuroScript. Then he made kuroScript 2, Prototype, Blueprints, Nexus... I'm actually not quite sure which order all of his gamemodes came in, but they were all frameworks and they all looked and felt the same.
When he made Nexus (an edit of his previous framework, no surprise there), he felt after a while like he didn't have time to keep supporting it, so he released it to the public. After making Blueprints, I believe, which was a Nexus edit with some minor bug fixes and some fancier text (cuz baeb, dats wat maekz rp gewd), he decided that he wanted to milk the rich 12 year olds for their money again, and used his Lua backdoors which Nexus was riddled with to take down every server running Nexus, just to boost his sales for his new edit. A dick move, I know.
Somehow, this worked, and now he makes his money by editing his frameworks, and releasing them under a new name, forcing people to re-buy them. If you feel like getting ahold of it, then just pay 200-300$ and buy it. And yeah, each schema for the framework also ranges from 200-300$... Buying mods for any game is stupid, so why would you pay such ridiculous prices for a terribly overused and overrated roleplay framework, that is also an Epidemic ripoff? (Check out Necropolis Roleplay's Epidemic script, MADE BY RICK DARK, and you'll see the similarities)
PS: It's also pretty much illegal. It has been said that selling Lua code made for GMod is in fact, not illegal, but haven't you noticed that Kuro also sells dll modules packed with OpenAura? Check the TOS, it is illegal to profit from dll files made with Source SDK.

Next-Gen Roleplay - Goodnight, sweet prince
I have been in several roleplay communities on GMod, but the best one I have ever been in has been Next-Gen Roleplay. People might argue that its leadership was corrupt or that the RP on there wasn't "top notch", but to me the RP was just perfect on there. Why? Because the RP wasn't elitist in any way, but at the same time it wasn't unserious. It managed to maintain a good balance, and I just always had a good time on there and never got into any fights with other community members.
What brought NG down? E-Drama. That and false rumors. See, a lot of people got pissed at NG over several reasons, so they decided to spread rumors about it, like that everyone ran around on the server killing each other and that we were stealing members from other communities and such. All of this was bullshit.
NG was one of the few HL2RP communities that ran its own custom script, made from scratch by Lappy (the community founder) himself. The script was in many ways better than TacoScript, although some of the features were inspired by TS ones. The script evolved a lot over time, but as NG was shut down, the script would die with it. I happen to still have a copy of the script laying around, although it's broken.
As much as I'd like to bring NG back, I just have to accept that it is gone. For good. It was the best HL2RP community I have ever been a part of, and I will miss it...

Shh Roleplay - Some things just won't stay dead
Everyone should be familiar with Shh Roleplay, a roleplay community that has always mainly focused on HL2RP. A while ago the community got resurrected. Again.
How many times does something have to die before people realize that it should stay DEAD? Last time it was resurrected (before this time) it went under a new name, Eximius Roleplay I believe.
I've checked the server, and whenever I check it there's either no-one on or there's like 2-3 people on there.
I don't really have much else to say about Shh as of now, other than that it doesn't seem as if it will ever die for good.

HERP DERP
[Updated as of the 4th of May, 2012]
DERP (Digital Entertainment RolePlay) was a community founded by Soret. The community ran for a while, before eventually being shut down by Soret due to lack of motivation.
During its run, a lot of stuff happened, and this post previously went into further detail on my views of it back then. Back when I wrote this post I held a personal vendetta against Soret, but me and him have cleared things up since then, put the drama behind us, and moved on as friends.
There's nothing more to see here, go read my other posts.

The world of GMod roleplay
The world of GMod roleplay is a vast and dangerous place, where you either see servers running DarkDM... I mean, DarkRP... or OpenAura. It is a place where people like yelling at each other, fighting over stupid things that's not even related to roleplaying and DDoS each other.
So what is this blog's initiative? To just chill in the background and provide some news of what is really going on under the surface of GMod roleplay. Stick around, it'll be fun.
